BUSY BEE NO. 4 1/2 SMOOTHING PLANE

Introducing the No. 4-1/2 smoothing plane, part of a new line of high quality woodworking hand planes from Busy Bee Tools. This smoothing plane is the wider version of the No.4 and is the ideal tool for preparing surfaces for final finishing. The wider blade and more mass is perfect for those who prefer a heftier plane. This plane makes short work of removing machining marks or bringing parts to final size. This is a great plane that is also well suited for quick chores like trimming doors, flushing cabinets or any simple planing task.

Modelled after the original Stanley No. 4-1/2, this plane is cast from ductile iron and the sole is ground flat. The comfortable handle and knob are made from sapele and finished with oil, offering great control of the plane in use. The plane has two separate adjustors that allow the user to advance and retract the blade with one adjustor and shift the blade side-to-side to centre the cut with the other.

The blade is made from O1steel and is hardened to 58-62 HRC which will take a fine edge. The chip breaker is made from CRCA steel and it greatly reduces the amount of tear-out in use. This plane comes packaged in a durable and attractive, foam-lined box that can be kept for safe storage. The craftsperson will truly enjoy using this high quality, well-made plane for many years and projects to come.
