Description
Introducing the No. 7 jointer plane, part of a new line of high quality woodworking hand planes from Busy Bee Tools. This jointer plane is perfectly suited for straightening the edges of boards to prepare them for joinery or creating a true edge to reference for further milling. Straight and true edges are one of the first critical steps when milling lumber. The long, 22” sole on this jointer will make short work of truing up your lumber.
Modelled after the original Stanley No. 7, this plane is cast from ductile iron and the sole is ground flat. The comfortable handle and knob are made from sapele and finished with oil, offering great control of the plane in use. The plane has two separate adjustors that allow the user to advance and retract the blade with one adjustor and shift the blade side-to-side to centre the cut with the other.
The blade is made from O1 steel and is hardened to 58-62 HRC which will take a fine edge. The chip breaker is made from CRCA steel and it greatly reduces the amount of tear-out in use. This plane comes packaged in a durable and attractive, foam-lined box that can be kept for safe storage. The craftsperson will truly enjoy using this high quality, well-made plane for many years and projects to come.

Better with experience
This plane has all the weight and comfort during use anyone could want. There are a couple manufacturing details that ought to be corrected though. First, the little button on the frog end of the lateral adjustment lever doesn’t contact the iron. It’s really useless. The threaded bolt that attaches the iron to the chip breaker just barely fits the slot in the iron. The head really needs to be a wider diameter. I can send you photos if it would help. I could imagine an inexperienced woodworker leaving off hand tools after trying to make this work. Improvements in the manufacturing of the next batch to address these issues will make this a 5-star tool.

Good quality tool, for the price
Good quality tool. Got this and the jack plane. The only reason I've dinged it a star is the finish quality. The paint was missing in a few spots, not something that you would expect from a Veritas tool, but that said, its half the price. Used on a couple projects, and very happy with it, would buy again.
